Phidias Antiques specializes in paintings, sculpture, and furnishings from the Neoclassical period through the 19th century.
In addition to its Reggio Emilia venue—located in Palazzo Benizzi, in the city’s historic center—the gallery recently opened a new space in Milan, at 3 Via San Giovanni sul Muro.
A member of FIMA (Italian Federation of Art Dealers) since 1988, the gallery has long participated in Italy’s most prestigious exhibitions. Recently, at its Reggio Emilia venue, it presented a major exhibition dedicated to the celebrated naïf painter Antonio Ligabue.

Antonio Ligabue
Oil on hardboard, 67 x 43 cm
Work published and authenticated by Prof. Sergio Negri.

Ritratto di Ludovica Altieri
Vittorio Matteo Corcos (Livorno 1859 – Florence 1933)
1904, oil on canvas, 85 x 71 cm
This beautiful portrait depicts the young noblewoman Lodovica Altieri.
The painting is a companion piece to that of her mother, Austrian princess Olga Cantacuzene (1843–1929); Both
canvases were likely painted on the occasion of Lodovica’s wedding to Margherito Guidotti,
who married for the second time on July 31, 1904.
A precious study of this work, made on February 25 of the same year, also survives, depicting
Donna Lodovica in profile and now in a private collection.

Le Baigneuse
Albert Philippot
1922 – Oil on canvas, 151 x 100 cm (side panels), 151 x 201 cm (central panel)
The triptych, clearly inspired by Art Nouveau, depicts female nudes immersed in a dreamlike seascape; in the background, wavy, sinuous lines create small islands that blend into the sky, while in the foreground the same curves are used to define the waves and sea foam lapping the shore.

Sehnsucht
Francesco Vinea
1885 – Oil on canvas, 74 x 58 cm
The painting depicts a young woman in profile; the light of her clothing stands out against a dark background of foliage and dark flowers, highlighting the figure.
